The wrinkle-relaxing treatment you may know as “Botox”
When people talk about getting “Botox,” they are often referring generally to wrinkle-relaxing injections. Botox® is actually a brand name, while Dysport® is another FDA-approved botulinum toxin type A injectable that works in a similar way.
We exclusively use Dysport® as our wrinkle relaxer. It temporarily reduces the muscle activity responsible for expression lines, helping soften wrinkles while maintaining natural movement and expression.
How Dysport® Works
Every time we smile, squint, frown, or raise our eyebrows, our facial muscles contract. Over time, repeated muscle movement can cause expression lines to become more noticeable and eventually remain visible even when the face is at rest.
Dysport® works by temporarily interrupting the nerve signals that cause targeted muscles to contract. As those muscles relax, the overlying skin can appear smoother and lines become less noticeable.
The goal isn’t to stop your expressions it’s to soften the muscle activity that contributes to unwanted lines while preserving a natural, expressive appearance.

The primary difference is the specific formulation although both are botulinum toxin type A and brand, rather than the overall purpose of the treatment.

What to Expect
Dysport® treatments are performed in-office and typically require little to no downtime. Your provider will assess your facial movement and determine the appropriate treatment areas and dosing for your goals.
Results develop gradually over the days following treatment, with results lasting for several months for many patients. Because Dysport® is temporary, treatments can be repeated as muscle activity returns.
